ReflectionsThe World Would Be a Better Place If..

Homestead Elementary School is excited that this year’s PTA REFLECTIONS program is beginning! As many of you know and for those new families, the Reflections program encourages students across the nation to explore their artistic talents. We will be doing a Homestead program this spring, and return to the Nationwide program in the fall. The program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. Students in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to submit works of art in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and the visual arts. This year's theme is The World Would Be a Better Place If.

Students participate in the Reflections Program by submitting entries to our Homestead PTA . The program has six arts areas: Literature, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, Musical Composition, Film Production, and Photography.

One entry can be submitted by each child in one of the six categories which are: Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Music Composition, Dance Choreography, and Film Production. The student’s work is judged on artistic merit, creativity, mastery of the medium, and interpretation of the theme. (KG - 2nd grade and 3rd - 5th grade). An artistic statement and cover sheet should be included with each project. The artistic statement will allow the student to explain in more detail why their work represents the theme of The World Would Be a Better Place If.. Winners and honorary mentions will be awarded in each of the divisions (KG - 2nd and 3rd - 5th) Each student who submits an entry will receive a participation certificate.

The deadline for turning in submissions is Wednesday, October 1st. There will be a box for student entries located in the office.

The artistic statement and cover sheet can be downloaded here (artistic statement) or students can pick up the papers in the office. They must be turned in with the project. Please do not write your child’s name on the project.
