Green Team

The Green Team sponsors and coordinates programs and events throughout the year to promote environmental awareness among Homestead’s students, staff, parents, and the community and connects the environmental impact of our “footprint”, and promoting a healthy environment. Focus is on Earth Day, Waste-less events, enhance recycling and waste programs, and promoting energy/water conservation.

Environmental Fair

No Waste Lunch Week -- see if you can keep the trash barrels empty by recycling, composting, and reusing

Go Green Nights - hold a family night that teaches kids about energy conservation, recycling, and more.

Environmental Awareness Assemblies

Eco Friendly Fashion Shows - have students model clothing created from recycled materials at an environmental assembly

Host a ‘Green’ Science Fair where all submissions focus on energy and conservation

Volunteers:

Green Team volunteers may be asked to help plan, develop, coordinate, and run a particular event or program.

Committee Chair Responsibilities:

In addition to the duties of every committee chair, the duties of the Green Team Chair are:
- educate parents and community on environmental issues impacting our school and community
- promote and provide materials and information concerning environmental awareness
- promote programs that teach children and youth to respect and care for the environment
