November 22nd- This week's Husky Volunteer of the Week is Jen Bartos! Jen is a dedicated and hard working volunteer who is always willing to help out wherever she can. Jen has held various PTA Board and Committee Chair positions, currently serving as our Fundraising Chair. Jen did an amazing job running this year's Boosterthon, which profited our school over $20,000!
November 15th- Please join us in congratulating this week's Husky Volunteer of the Week…Allison Lebeck! Allison is not only a Teacher's Assistant at Homestead, but also a very dedicated volunteer! She has held many PTA Board Positions as well as Committee Chair positions.
Most recently, Allison was PTA Directory Chair, which is not an easy task! Allison is always willing to help wherever and whenever she can! We are very lucky to have her! Allison was nominated by PTA Membership Chair Sarah Allen and PTA President Missy Dziewiatkowski. Thanks for all you do, Allison!

Congratulations to our very first Husky Volunteer of the Week...Vanessa Wakim! Vanessa was nominated by several teachers. "Mrs. Wakim is amazing! Not only has she volunteered in our classroom to help out with small groups, but she also comes in every other week to help with bulletin boards, cutting, stapling & copying. She is willing to help in any way she can and always has a smile on her face" (from Mrs. Rusin). Vanessa also received a shout-out from Mrs. Sette: "Mrs. Wakim always goes above and beyond for the students and staff at Homestead. She volunteer's in her kids' classrooms, as a copy mom and in other rooms if a volunteer is needed. She's the best!"
In addition to her classroom help, Vanessa has also held various PTA Committee Chair positions, including Box Top Coordinator and Virtual Backpack Chair. Please join us in thanking Vanessa for all of her hard work as a Husky Volunteer!!!

Please join us for the November PTA meeting on Tuesday, November 12th at 7:00 pm in the MPR. FREE childcare is provided by the PTA. Refreshments will also be served. Tuesday's topics will include a Cyberbullying presentation by Jeff Bean, President of Act on Bullying Inc. Jeff is a 14 year veteran of a local suburban Police Department and is currently assigned as the DARE/Crime Prevention Officer for his agency. Officer Bean has dealt with juveniles for his entire career. He uses his training and experience to help students, parents, and schools deal with the dangers of bullying and cyber-bullying.
Topics will include:
- Cyber-bullying and Internet Safety information for parents
- Research-based survey results from kids in our area on these topics
- Educate parents on what our kids are actually doing online
- Offer suggestions and solutions for parents on how we can work together to keep our kids safe in the constantly changing Digital Age
